"Gorgeous China" Chinese White Costume Exhibition Opens

Decoration is an important part of national culture. It is the most direct and significant symbol of a nation. It embodies the cultural mentality of a nation's production, life, aesthetic taste and religious beliefs.

Following the Hani costumes exhibition, the seventh major exhibition of "China's ethnic costume series", "Splendid China - Chinese White Costume Culture Exhibition" was opened at the Shanghai Textile Museum.

The exhibition was co sponsored by the Museum of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture and the Shanghai Textile Museum, which focused on the ethnic costumes and traditional culture of the Bai nationality.

Bai people call themselves "Bai Zi", "Bai Ni", "Bai Huo", and Chinese means "white".

He called "people's home", "Na Ma", "Le Mo" and so on.

In 1956, according to national will, the official designation was collectively known as the Bai nationality.

Bai nationality is distributed in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan province. Besides, Yunnan, Kunming, Lijiang, Nu River, Diqing, Baoshan, Yuxi, Chuxiong, Wenshan, Lincang and other cities all have white people living together.

Hunan, Zhangjiajie, Xiangxi, Guizhou, Bijie, Anshun, Sichuan, Liangshan and other places also have Bai nationality distribution.

Among them, Yunnan Lanping, Hunan Sangzhi county and Guizhou Bijie are outside the Dali state, where Bai population is more concentrated.

Bai nationality is an ancient farming nation. The Bai nationality's clothing culture has a long history and a wide variety. According to its living environment, Bai people can be divided into two main types: the Bai People's clothing in the dam area and the Bai nationality clothing in the mountain area. According to their living areas, they can be divided into Dali, Heqing, Jianchuan, Yunlong and so on.

Bai costume is an important part of Bai culture, and is one of the most significant cultural symbols of Bai nationality.

Different natural environment and living conditions make the Bai ethnic costumes of various regions rich and varied.

The basic styles of Bai Men's dress men's wear are made up of Baotou, jacket, gown, crotch, trousers and scissors. The basic style of women's wear is made up of Baotou, small collar or collar without collar, underwear, gown, ribbon waist, straight crotch pants and embroidered cloth shoes. Women's clothing also includes handkerchiefs, purse strings, and string bags. Jewelry has gold, silver, copper, jade earrings, bracelets, rings, three or five chain chains.

Women of the Bai nationality are ingenious, often embroidered with flowers, grass, trees, fruits, insects, fish, birds, animals, days, months, stars, clouds, immortals and abstract lines.

On the other hand, it is full of auspiciousness and happiness, colorful and beautiful.

Along with the development of economy and culture, the formation and development of the Bai nationality continued to evolve. On the basis of inheriting the tradition, they absorbed the essence of the exotic dress culture from the influence of the surrounding ethnic culture and formed a colorful and regional costumes with prominent features.

The Textile Museum hopes to enable more people to see and touch different ethnic cultures and enhance understanding and communication among ethnic groups through the "Chinese ethnic costume series exhibition". It is also hoped that while the "Chinese Bai costumes show" gives you the appreciation of the beauty, it will also give you more attention and support for the protection of the Bai People's cultural heritage, and work together to make more efforts for the inheritance and development of the national culture, and keep going on.
